UltraDeck is devoted to quiet, true-to-the-source, and coloration-free playback. It goes even further by taking critical measures to ensure unwanted noises remain kept from the critical stylus/record interface.
Drawing on 40 years of making records at Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, the new MoFi Electronics division is focused on improving the sonic integrity of audio reproduction in the home. MoFi products are the result of multiple collaborations with some of the world’s best audio designers, stemming from decades of experience in the studio.
Created in collaboration with one of the world’s foremost turntable and tonearm designers, Allen Perkins of Spiral Groove, MoFi’s new turntables provide uncompromising playback of your vinyl collection and maintain the high standards of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab.
METICULOUS DESIGN AND EVALUATION
Advanced technology, user-friendly features, and unflappable design elements ensure phenomenal playback—ultimately bringing the sound of Mobile Fidelity’s famous studio into your home.
Custom developed and manufactured in the USA, this 10-inch straight aluminum gimbaled bearing tonearm delivers the ideal balanced of rigidity and low tracking error, so all you hear is what is in the grooves. Tweak to your heart’s delight with provisions for adjustable tracking force, VTA, azimuth, and anti-skate.
ISOLATED AC SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR
Our 300 RPM stepped-pulley AC motor provides excellent speed stability for pitch accuracy and rhythmic drive. The Delrin® pulley has two positions for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM speed selection. Motor vibrations are kept away from the platter and stylus by using advanced dampening materials that decouple the motor from the rest of the turntable.
CONSTRAINED LAYER DAMPENING
StudioDeck features an aluminum plate carefully bonded to an MDF body to add mass and eliminate tonal coloration, maintaining the true sound found on the record.
ANTI-VIBRATION FEET BY HRS
Any vibration of the stylus that is not created by the grooves in the record is a distortion that will mask musical detail. Developed in conjunction with the engineering team at Harmonic Resolution Systems, the world leader in vibration isolation for audio equipment, the included MoFi anti-vibration feet isolate your turntable from bad vibrations.
1.3-INCH DELRIN® PLATTER
UltraDeck features a massive 1.3-inch Delrin® platter. The increased mass creates blacker sonic backgrounds and a lower noise floor. Delrin® is a next-generation polymer developed by Dupont. In the world of audio, Delrin’s® highly crystalline structure presents a wonderful impedance match to vinyl records, effectively grounding unwanted noise and keeping it away from the stylus.
STEEL AND TEFLON INVERTED BEARING
The hardened-steel inverted bearing system is designed for smooth, quiet rotational stability. The extremely low tolerance combination of steel, bronze, and sapphire—found in much more expensive turntables—will provide you many years of high-performance playback.

Its sound character can be defined only by what it is not: neither warm nor cool, hard nor soft, light nor dark. Contrasts are extremely well portrayed.
It had stronger energy, achieved bigger dynamic swings, and was more detailed that comparatively priced ‘tables from VPI and Rega.
The MoFi UltraDeck is one of the most lucid-, engaging-, and natural-sounding record players available for under $5000. Highly recommended.
Herb Reichert, Stereophile (Feb 8, 2018)
Albums played sounded much more like real music, a musical event, as opposed to “listening to records”.
Ultradeck is about as neutral as I’ve ever heard. It sounds big, really big in fact, but it isn’t going to add anything to the sound of your records. Through the midrange, it’s clean and clear, and the highs are crisp and sparkling.
Taking into account the high level of performance and engineering MoFi has achieved with the Ultradeck, I suspect they’ve got a hit on their hands.
With the Ultradeck, MoFi has produced an American made turntable that’s well engineered and built, looks great, and sounds sublime- and they brought it to market at a very reasonable price.
Nels Ferre, Vinyl Me, Please (Nov 7, 2017)
UltraDeck fitted with the UltraTracker cartridge and 10-inch Ultra tonearm exhibited an uncannily low surface noise quality playing back a bundle of vinyl.
So low, it qualifies as something of a benchmark in turntable, tonearm and cartridge design.
Music emerged from a black velvety background with abundant detail, superior soundstage and imaging, and commendable transparency. Album after album, the UltraDeck was a sheer delight to enjoy and savour. A deep sense of ease settles in as the UltraDeck’s perfect pitch and foot-tapping sense of timing takes over.
I simply involved myself in the music and became totally absorbed.
Peter Familari, Stereonet (Aug 31, 2017)
The turntable that was my impetus for seeking out this room delivered on many fronts. As a debut performance, the UltraDeck + MasterTracker + StudioPhono vinyl playback system operated with the composure and refinement of well evolved product line.
The product specs and choice of design features and materials do well to take classic cues from the turntables of yore. The decision to utilize DuPont™ Delrin® as a platter material is outright genius and cause enough for me to add this turntable to my personal wish-list.
Eric Franklin Shook (June 6, 2018, parttimeaudiophile.com)
It’s no accident that MoFi’s first turntable effort is at the top of the class with their first effort – they have a crack team behind it. John Schaffer, formerly of Wadia, has headed the project, bringing a tremendous amount of manufacturing and procurement knowledge to the mix. Even though Wadia was always a digital company, Schaeffer’s love for analog has always been apparent, as is his commitment to high quality. Allen Perkins from Spiral Groove was tapped to guide the turntable design, and his Spiral Groove tables are some of the best made at any price. Interestingly, the MoFi table makes the same little belt squeal sound at startup that my Spiral Groove did. Even the feet were contracted to HRS, so no real stone was left unturned.
Finally, all of this was accomplished right here in America. This table was not farmed out offshore to hit a price point. I think that is really impressive. In the end, I’m happy to give this turntable one of our Exceptional Value Awards for 2018. This is as good as analog gets for (USD) $2,200.
