Q UP – Tonearm Lifter
The Q UP is a high precision device that safely lifts your tonearm at the end of the record. The Q UP can be installed in minutes, without tools, and is designed to fit on most manual turntables.
Based upon a trigger and lift design, now reborn and modernized to work with either classic or contemporary turntable / tonearm combinations The Q UP can be configured for a variety of tonearm heights, thicknesses and shapes. The Q UP only interacts with the tonearm at the end of record and does NOT adversely effect the tonal quality of your system in any way. No need to worry about falling asleep with your record playing or forgetting it is playing if you get distracted.
Q UP can be used with most bearing tonearm types, from uni-pivot to gimbal. However, Q UP is not compatible with linear tracking arms. If you have a question about your particular setup, please contact Music Direct. Q UP requires a flat space near the tonearm with approximately 0.55″ (14mm) of plinth space near the tonearm. The minimum height between the plinth and the bottom of the tonearm when playing a record is 1.42″ (36mm). Most tonearms and turntables fit these criteria. NOTE: Pro-Ject Debut Series tonearms can use a Q UP without its base; all that’s required is double-sided tape to affix the Q UP to the platform.
Three Different-Sized Lifters Included With Q UP
Variations in height between the plinth and the bottom of the tonearm are common, so Q UP includes three different-sized lifters: 10mm, 20mm, and 30mm. Easily affixed to the bottom of Q UP, these give Q UP great compatibility with a broad range of tonearms without compromising stability.
First, the tonearm must be a pivot type and NOT linear tracking.
Second,. you will need 14 mm of space between the tonearm and the platter. Slightly less if you are setting up the lifter without the base unit.
Third, the minimum height between the base where you will set up The Q UP and the bottom of the tonearm when playing a record is 36mm if you are using the base unit OR 34mm if you are setting it up without the base unit.
The Q UP is NOT compatible with DJ style turntables like the Technics 1200, Audio Technica and Stantons. There is no space between the platter and the tonearm to mount the lifter.
Note: we tested and confirm that Q UP works well with Audio Technica LP-5 but not LP-120
Low profile turntables like REGA and PRO-JECT
The Q UP works well with these turntables as long as you set it up without the base unit. It will require some simple DIY modification in order to be compatible with these turntables if you still want to use the base unit.
